Who We Are

CAN is an international network connecting farmers, consumers, students, and educators to create an alternative globalization where people, healthy food systems, and environments come first. Our research and education programs support conservation – both of the land and people's livelihoods – through sustainable agriculture and alternative market channels.

CAN works in collaboration with five farming communities in Latin America, each through the long-term commitments of a researcher, to market coffee, diversify forms of income, and support the transition to ecological agriculture. We define sustainable in terms of both environment and economics, collaborating with farmer organizations through participatory research, action education, and innovations in trade. Coffee drinkers and any one concerned with sustainable systems are key to the success of this network. We invite you to join!
